I'm a little surprised that Hana was one day away from owning the store and still thought it would be a good idea to take the bird out of its cage. That seems like something she would have attempted at a younger, more irresponsible age. I'm sure the moment was just to express to the reader the dangers of doing so. However, that then makes Hana seem a bit incompetent or irresponsible. It's a small personal qualm, but unless risk-taking is part of her personality and will come into play further into the plot, I wish we would have gotten that explanation in a way that wasn't to her character's expense.
