I posted this under the comment of my own review since I was unsure if this is appropriate for the forum. I saw people posting about the film, so here it is. I think people should be aware of how the media they consume is produced.

Since the Nolan films coming out, a lot of discourse has occured. I have zero patience for that, but it’s an opportunity to segue into what they did to the place they filmed at.

The production crew dumped plastic props into the Sicilian sea. They’ve also been accused of damaging the archipelagos by environmentalists.

I know this is a strictly book tracking app so the discourse is always in regards to books. That’s why I’m posting here, so at least my followers and mutuals can see. If you plan on watching the film, you should be aware of this.

Zendaya certainly isn’t the first to do this. And I find it fascinating, as I find it infuriating, that this is so common a phenomenon. Since the article does state another instance. And I, myself, can recall some. I would be interested to read a book on this specific subject if there’s any.

I don’t need more reasons to not watch the film, not like I like watching films to begin with. But this made it imperative to put my feelings into perspective. I can no longer be blasé about these things.

— I know this is what Hollywood (and other film industries) have done for decades. This is nothing new, but this is not good. This is not something we should disregard just because it’s become the norm. We end up normalizing things that shouldn’t be (especially relevant now). Please keep in mind I’m not from the US or Italy (or Iran), I just observe.
