Kept the title vague to avoid spoiling for those in the know
Call me crazy but I cannot stop but thinking of Hadestown after reading this. The musical element, Jack needing to write a song to fix the balance of the world (la la la la la la la 😉), a badass woman taking care of business for her and her partner, said badass woman being damned to a new land separated from her partner. And based on the description of the next book Jack will be going into the West to be with/save Adaira.
Did anyone else catch these things and do you agree, if you know the story of the musical? Obviously the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice is thousands of years old but this book so specifically seems to mirror major elements of Hadestown.
