Earlier, as Lestat and Nicki are getting to know each other and falling in love, Nicki calls him, “My lord, the wolfkiller” and it’s so sweet and sexy and a lovely moment of connection between the two of them. I imagine Lestat might take pride in that title too, after all he was basically a hero for killing the pack of wolves in Auvergne.
It is then so twisted that Magnus continually addresses Lestat as “Wolfkiller,” first getting inside his head in the theater, and then after he’s stalked, kidnapped, and assaulted him. He says it over and over, never Lestat, only Wolfkiller — building him up to be this mythic figure almost, not a terrified young man. A mockery of his relationship with Nicki, an inversion of that intimacy. Say a word enough times and it will start to lose its meaning.
