Hi! First club post, but I’ve been thinking about book-to-screen adaptations recently, and I got really curious. I’m sure a lot of people on here, as book enthusiasts, often prefer the book to the movie (myself included) because a casualty of filming can be cutting details and missing minor plot points, etc. A lot of adaptations are known to irritate book-lovers for not capturing the source material the way they were hoped to.

So, on the positive flip side, I was wondering; what’s everyone’s favourite film/tv adaptions of books they’ve read? And does anyone have an outlier where they actually enjoyed the movie/show more than the written source?

I do really like Del Toro’s Frankenstein (2025), because thematically, I think it was good (compared to most Frankenstein media anyway)! And I have one movie I liked more than the book, and that’s for The Fault in Our Stars (2014) when I watched the movie as a teen after reading, as I just found it more enjoyable. My own personal opinions, but made me wonder if others had any!
