Coming here to celebrate for a sec 🥳 I've been learning Chinese since 2024, and in that time I've also been a reader of DuChinese, which for those who are unaware is an extremely popular choice for those looking for fully narrated graded readers in Mandarin. Since I'm at an okay-ish level in Mandarin now (somewhere around A2-B1 level) when I clicked on one of the "upper intermediate" stories on there and realized it wasn't difficult, I was like, "yk what? I'm gonna use that 7 day free trial now" And ohhh boy did I. In that week of the free trial, even though I had a supremely busy week, I managed to squeeze in a grand total of 103 chapters across various stories and articles! 🎉 I read the story of Mulan, Legend of the White Snake, The Painted Skin, The Human Chair, and all the available chapters of Journey to the West, and then towards the end I decided to go back to some easier content like Butterfly Lovers. All in all, a very productive week! Even dreamed dialogues in Chinese a few times lol. I've already read a few books of native content in Chinese before, but from the amount of times I would know a word but didn't recognize it, my sense of accomplishment was a bit dimmed 😅 But after this week I definitely noticed a big jump in how accurately I can remember characters, so I'm really glad I decided to give my all to this challenge, I really feel motivated now!
