Truly incredible. So good and so devastating. Suzanne Collins' mind is something to behold. I am so interested to see what they change for the movie adaptation coming out next year. Whatever they decide, I'm sure it will be equally haunting.

If you actively hate pop-culture references in books, you might want to steer clear of this one haha. What a wild ride!!! There were moments in the book that were as gripping as watching a challenge-based reality TV program. Also, the ending line is one of the best, most satisfying lines I've read in a contemporary novel!

At this point, my only guess is that Jack the cat is secretly a human yarn expert that is trapped in a cat's body. Seems unlikely, but, man, will I be happy if that turns out to be true! There aren't really any definitive human suspects for the murder yet, so this is all I have to speculate about haha

So fun!! Being connected to your culture doesn't look the same for everyone! As someone who learned her ancestral language (so to speak) later in life, I related to Gemma's frustration about not understanding many aspects of her Chinese culture. But these things can be learned, and everyone starts somewhere! I loved the puzzle aspect of this as well. So clever and thrilling, and also genuinely very touching and sweet! I recommend the audiobook narrated by Yu-Li Alice Shen. It's really cool to hear the Mandarin dialogue said aloud!

This is hands-down the best book I've read this year! The characters and plot were so layered and well thought out, and the mystery element had me on the edge of my seat. Even more than an excellent story, this book is a call to action. Books like this show how important fiction can be. Although this story is fictional, it raises awareness to the very real Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women across the United States and Canada. I highly recommend this book!

If this were made into some sort of screen adaptation, Gwendoline Christie would be an excellent choice for Tiffany.

All the lying really stressed me out. But I loved the characters overall!

I wasn't expecting this to be mostly about the renovation of the yarn shop, but I still had a good time. The mystery element seemed a little rushed at the end.
