  • Fan fiction

What’s yalls opinion on fanfic generally? I often read it when I miss or want to reconnect with character from books/tv that i’ve already consumed but I have a tendency to not think of this as ā€œreal reading.ā€ Should I? (how) do you differentiate more official reading (for lack of a better term) from fanfic.

is this just a societal judgement or do you think there’s something bigger that separates them?

any other fan fic thoughts your itching to share?

  • Who is your favorite pet from a book?

I was just looking at my (beautiful, perfect, tiny, etc…) cat and thinking about all the different pets in all the different books I’ve read. For instance, in R. F. Kuang’s Katabasis, there’s a little cat named Archimedes, whose wellbeing I was constantly worried about. Another favorite of mine is Lardo, a fat kitty from Pie by Sarah Weeks. They aren’t the main focus of the story, but I love when they’re around.

Who are your favorite book pets? If you could have any of them in real life, who would you choose? (And yeah, fictional animals count!)

    Audiobooks

I haven’t listened to an audiobook since I was much younger but I absolutely devoured this one. The narrator was incredible and I think this was the perfect book for it. If you’re looking for anything to read in audio form this is your book.

  • what would your dream bookshop speciality be?

Being reminded a lot recently of the childhood job hope of working in a bookshop, so I’m curious what other people would have either as their overall dream bookshop speciality or as their department? Also, people who already work in a bookshop/library, do you have a speciality already?

I would love to have a combo bookshop and craft space with themed patterns or fabric/wool for the books every month. For a speciality, I love the fantasy/scifi so being able to do themed displays for the new releases would be so much fun!
