Cat, coffee, wine, and a good book. Sounds like a good time to me.

Desire swirled in his gut as he raked his gaze over her. He didn’t think he wouldn’t ever not have that reaction when she was presented to him like this.

Someone please tell me wtf this sentence is supposed to mean because I cannot decipher the triple negative😭

This was a fun quick read. I wish it was longer, so we could learn more about the other men. I would've loved to see some intrigue or curiosity from Molly about Cam to make their affection less like insta-love. Simple familiarity does not necessitate love. Lastly, I wish that Cam actually experienced a real threat/competition and that we got to see more of his machinations. This book truly felt like its purpose was world/scenario building, so the author will have less to explain in the next ones. With that in mind, I hope we get a better feel for the characters in the next books and learn more about the fae, their powers, why they revealed themselves to the humans, and what they were doing before.

  • Romances tropes you love and those you hate! And maybe give/get recs.

Okay romance readers, this one is for you.

Which romance do you love, mine are: -enemies-to-lovers -roomates-to-lovers -forced proximity -dark rom-coms -one bed (cliché but can be fun) -grumpy/sunshine -grumpy/grumpy (a new found love, as a grumpy person 😄 ) -found family -small town -spicy

Not a trope, but love it! -queer, especially sapphic, MFM MAYBE MMFM (how any woman can handle more men than that is BEYOND me!), MM

And those you hate, here are mine: -Slow burn (I have no patience to wait for the good bits, 🤣 I came for romance give me the spice! 🌶) -age gap (especially if it's an 18-24 yr old woman-girl, with some old dude, although some reverse age gap isn't bad, but please make the dude either super mature for his age or at least 27) -fated mates-type in a non-magical romance -forbidden love, see age gap -surprise pregnacy/breeding kink -non-humanoid monster smut -pitch black romance (my MCs need some redeamable qualities or I'd just rather read a horror book)

I'll give recs to those who comment with tropes they like that I have a good rec for, feel free to do the same. I'm also just curious what everyone's fav are. NO TROPE SHAMING.

I found that I had the desire to reread this book as it has so many nuggets that resonate with me. Many of Hooks ideas are rooted in Christian and Buddhist teaching, but she invites the reader to make their own conclusions from their foundations of spiritualism or belief in something greater. It continues to be relevant in its challenges and criticisms of modern love and its push for something greater "true love."
