Where did The Faceless Old Woman come from? What does she want? With a good dose of unreality and seafaring adventure, will you find out? The writing in this Nightvale novel is especially descriptive, I really enjoyed the use of scent as an anchoring of important moment in the story. The way the scents are peeled back note by note was charmingly upsetting. For Nightvale purists - the bulk of this story is set in the wider world of the universe that contains Nightvale, but we do get a peek at some context for Places like Franchia and Svitz!

A cosy, weird kid childhood favourite, the adventures of Luke and Malc were definitely an introduction to a lifelong love of crime literature. With science and psychological reasoning that is explained with respect for a child readers intellect and problem solving abilities, it's a fun, snappy read (and re-read as an adult).

Flora writes from her life as an archivist and curious inhabiter of her home city. Conversational and observant, Flora constantly starts an essay talking about one thing, before skilfully showing how a persons experiences and perspective inform each other continuously.
