I can't believe I'm saying this but the romance in this book low-key ruined it for me. it was so unbelievable , the chemistry was nowhere to be found. The found family saved this book for me it was so cute. I was sat for every single one of their interaction. Overall this was a quick fun read.

This was a perfect sequel to The Jasmine Throne. I love this book as much as I loved the first one, maybe even more because it was easier to navigate through this book now understanding the world and the characters better, and the twists and turns kept me on my toes. Tasha's rich writing and descriptions of the scenery and the lore she created for this world continue to blow my mind. But my favorite thing about this trilogy so far is the characters; they're so complex, they feel so real. Not one of the decisions made felt like it was out of character; I could almost guess what the characters were going to do because I felt like I knew them so well. I'm also really enjoying the theme explore in this book, sacrifice, power, religion being used as a tool of control etc... The YEARNING between Priya and Malini made me sick. The way they talked about one another, the way they thought about one another, the way they touched each other, and the way they loved each other. I could feel their love flowing off the page. I love them so much it hurts.

First of all, I love this take on vampires; it was so fresh. I was very intrigued and even famished for any details the author would give us on vampires. I like the mystery in the midst of the story; it kept me entertained and was not overly predictable . I love the writing; it was so rich, but sometimes I felt like it did not match the time period, and it kind of took me out of the story, but that only happened a handful of times. This book made me appreciate mostly single POV books because it added that layer of "won't he, will he," where you are also put in a position where you're also doubting the feelings of the love interest. I like the characters; I wish they were more developed, especially Dacian. I can't say that I totally believe in their romance; again, I just needed more from them, though I did appreciate the way the author portrayed the intimacy between them. ( And we did not get a jealousy scenes unfortunately) Overall, I had fun reading this story. I would recommend it if, like me, you're obsessed with vampires, and it got me interested in more ancient vampire stories.
