Kirino is showing the different views, assumptions and biases of the characters in such a clever way. I love how insightful this book is already dealing with so many aspects of human nature and moral questions and decisions.

Okay going into this blind- all I know is it's supposed to be a classic and romance (and there'sa movie adaptation?). I have a feeling my English may not be English enough...

I loved Emily Brontë’s writing style, and hated the characters - which she was going for I suppose. Brontë leans into the dark side of human nature, and in a way questions nature vs nurture.
If each had been treated differently or had different lives would they have been different/better people? In this book you see spirits broken, yet determination comes through.
I feel no love for any characters except Ellen our narrator, who is loyal, and caring for her little mistress
