Came for the cultural analysis/critique on how “unstable” women have been portrayed in horror films. Stayed for the incredibly honest memoir that’s woven throughout that analysis. At times hard to read (well, I listened) due to the extremely heavy topics touched on both in the films and the author’s life, there is zero sugarcoating done in this book.

I don’t think I know 95% of the films referenced in this book but I’m still hooked. I think my jaw has actually dropped at some points with how honest the author is about her life

So I read this with a lump in my throat the entire time.
While this a book you could read in a day, I’d suggest taking some time to let each story sink in. Each one squeezed my heart in its own way.
