The ending really came through heavy for this onešāāļø I think some parts of the story dragged on a bit too long without revealing any new information or revelations. I really enjoyed Rui and Zizi and I guess Yiran was there toošš¤·āāļø I definitely will be reading the next bookšāāļø

I had a lot of fun reading this even though it took me foreverrr to get through it bc itās been so hectic latelyš I really enjoyed the characters and their relationships with one another as the story developed. I was also listening to the graphic audio, which is actually also the first time Iāve listened to a graphic audio book and I was kind of obsessed with the voice actors not gonna lieš¤·āāļøš It just sucks that I want to read the next book but part one of its graphic audio doesnāt come out til Marchš„²

I need anyone whoās ever said that books āarenāt politicalā to read this book! The themes of exploitation, racism, book banning/erasure, and tyranny are so prevalent in this story that it is impossible to missš My only ācomplaintā was that it felt like it dragged out a little bit too much in part two. Other than that, the story was good, the characters were all so intriguing, and the narrator did a great job! If you enjoyed The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar, I think youāll enjoy this one too!

I will say I canāt believe Iām rooting for Morgan to get with this blonde man bc they are so cute togetheršš«¶

I loved the found family and the world building in this one! The different personalities and talents coming together was so interesting to see and hearing the pidgin with the audiobook was so cool too! I will say, I was not a big fan of Angel at all, but the 36 months made me feel a littleeee better about her characterš
