The White Man's Guilt is an especially pertinent read for any inhabitant of the 'west', or, as we become more and more connected and understand how we effect each other, any inhabitant of the 'earth'. An extremely thought provoking 5o pages, and even when he touches on things I already have come to understand by myself or through other means, he weaves them together so succinctly that you don't even need to stand back to see the full picture.

A difficult one to rate. Some stories I thought were superb ('What I Would Be If I Wasn't What I Am' and 'Arms Overhead'), but there were some I actively disliked and thought shouldn't have been included. Rarely in a collection from a single author does my opinion vary so vastly from story to story, so I have to rate it down the middle.

Pretty solid. Maybe the most solid of the Halo books I've read. The characterisation of each character was certainly the best so far I think, and the world building was interesting to the point where I want to replay the series and remind myself the intricacies of how it all fits together. I will say though that the amount of spelling mistakes in this one is pretty kooky. I'm wondering how so many made it to print. 3 on one page? Macadamias.

This certainly makes for a compelling tale, as expected. The first two books especially are very interesting, chronicling Satan's fall from grace after his defeat in Heaven, and his subsequent formation of a Revenge Plot™. Milton creates very interesting dialogue and internal ruminations, especially within Satan and God, that attempt to explain their motives. It is interesting to offer this insight while also 'preaching' that holy knowledge is beyond Man's intended ken, and to seek it is not in accordance with God's wishes. As always with texts like these I approach them as more of a curiosity of the past, and in doing so find them enjoyable. However I do feel an underlying sentiment of dread whenever I pick them up and remember many of these lines of thought are still prevalent in religions today. As far as I am aware, Milton wrote Paradise lost in order to attempt to 'justify the ways of God to men'. To then read a text so fraught with hypocrisy does not make me feel so good Mr. Stark.

I was sure that the God we had known in Palestine had left it too, and was a refugee in some place that I did not know, unable to find a solution to his own problems.

Really solid collection with plenty of Night Lords action yippee!

For a videogame tie-in novel from the mid 90s, this wasn't actually half bad.
