A stunning look at generational trauma told through three generations. I really appreciated the depiction of trauma and how it impacted each character and their relationships differently.

This book covers dark subject matters and eras but, I think each setting is handled very well. Even when there is violence the author writes to convey the mindset of the perpetrators/victims rather than the acts of violence itself. Which makes terrible events turn into beautiful prose. But, I did cry.

The ending was a bit fast and optimistic but, I don't really see how any alternative ending could've worked.

Note: Also really liked how dementia was written in this book.

This is beautifully written little memoir focused on winter. I 100% picked this up just because of the illustrations and I'm not disappointed. It's a gentle read about cozy memories and moments and perfect for the winter (or summer if you're like me).

My friend highly recommended this book to be but, I fear it's a tad too philosophical for me to enjoy. Overall, it felt like nothing really happened or what did occur had no relevance to the rest of the book.

The philosophy was interesting but not interesting enough for me to enjoy the reading experience.

The extra 1/2 star is for the randomness of part 2.

The vibe of this book reminds me of the videogame Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion.

The author mentions lots of interesting commentary on moderation and the effect on moderators but, never does anything with it. The technological landscape is just a backdrop for Girlie instead of actual societal commentary.

That being said, I loved Girlie's internal monologue. It brought a lot of life to an otherwise minimal plot. So 80% of the enjoyment comes Girlie and 20% from Girlie's interactions with William.

I really liked the concept of this book, the viewpoint was really interesting and realistic but, I think it just went on too long. It's one of the books where I understand why it was written in it's format but the circular thinking and repetitiveness got tiring quickly. It might've been 4 stars if it was 20 pages shorter.

I never thought I'd be getting multiracial discourse in this book in the form of the societal implications of werewolf/werewolf discrimination.

This is a bit absurdist in a very entertaining way. The author has one of the most unique voices I've ever read and I did not anticipate any of the turns in the plot. Very entertaining and fun.
