Horrible tutorial on going to the lighthouse btw

On a more serious note, Woolf’s writing is beautiful but cannot be just glanced over. You have to use all your brain power, or at least I did, to understand the writing. I really liked her realistic depictions of characters and of time, but her writing style does take some time getting used to.

Some parts are racist which was weird because it kept being reiterated instead of just one offhand detail.

Overall, pretty good book for the long car rides I had.

I truly understand how this story is so long-lasting on one's memory. It reminded me of my cousin, of isolation, and of the fear of not being wanted anymore. It is a story I will want to reread again some time.

The novel itself makes no sense, but that’s the point. It leaves you confused and sad, and the way time is seen in a time of war is a powerful message I’ll never forget. War truly is the children’s crusade.

Read this for AP Lit and it was just didn't merit being this long of a novel. I can see that the writing is clever, but it's at the point it feels a lil pretentious like, "oooh, did you see that? Aren't I so smart?" The plot itself is fine, but if you think a lot about it, it kinda falls apart a lil bit. I still do find the merit in this, though. Hester as a character is very interesting, but there is a few very weird additions about women that just seemed unnecessary.
