I’m getting ready to start this audiobook now but I’m worried I forgot to much of the previous book. Excited to get back to this series though.

Decided to give this one a try. Once I heard the first narrators voice I got excited. Then I checked and saw there are two narrators for this book that I really like! I’m really interested to start this journey now!

This installment was a change of pace I think this series needed. I also have to say I greatly prefer the Graphic Audio narration. I listened to the Michael Kramer version for the previous book and I had to rewind several times because I lost track of who was talking. That has not happened with the Graphic Audio and it is a more dynamic reading. The sound effects also add to the experience for me.

This was just what I hoped it would be, a quirky mystery with an interesting cast of characters. The investigative team that develops in this one was my favorite part so I am excited to see how the autor expands this world in the next novel. This book made me think of the Shadow of the Leviathan series (starts with The Tainted Cup) when the team was together discussing the case. Each member was unique and thier interactions made me think of Ana and Din. This book is based much more in our world than the SoL series but ,if you enjoy that series I think you might find something you like here.

I love this first short paragraph from JL Odom:
“ Our bodies all feed the earth in death. I won’t escape that and neither will you. But I’m one who’s body feeds the soil while I’m still alive.”
