I don’t know what to write (or feel generally), since it’s currently 4 AM. But I loved the parallels and how the long-darn length felt so short because of the pacing.
I do not usually dive into the Sci-Fi genre unless it has high-to-mid fantasy elements such as Dune, but due to the movie, I gave this book a try. Along the way, I figured there’s a difference between movie and book Ryland Grace, but one thing is consistent: they’re both lovable and inspiring.
Ryland Grace in the book is more straightforward and quite aggressive than in the movie, but instead of disliking it, it made the changes on the adaptation more profound. Movie Ryland Grace resonated with me in ways I couldn't fathom. I saw myself in him. The way he conquered his fears and made peace with everything that has happened to him had inspired me to have courage.
It’s such a heartfelt and light read for someone who hasn’t read for years.
By the way, this book also resonated with me through these songs: The Mountain is You by Chance Pena and Waving Through a Window by Ben Platt. They are so Ryland Grace-coded.

Ngl sometimes I pretend I completely understand what is going on scientifically 😭 but it's okay, in Ryland Grace we trust, my man probably doesn't know much more than I do

They said a self-balancing centrifuge won’t be farfetched in a hightech ship (which is humanity's only hope). That's how ppl coped with the centrifuge 😭
