First I want to talk about the choice of the color pallette — which is pleasing to eyes. The art is clean, clear and pretty.

Second - I went into this graphic novel without having read the original To All the Boys book, though I’d seen the movie. As I kept reading, I realised this adaptation is really for the fans of the novel. If you already love the story, you’ll probably enjoy seeing it drawn out. If you’re newer to it, like me, some things feel rushed or glossed over.

One small thing that started to grate on me was how often the name “Lara Jean” was repeated. Lara Jean (you) or Lara Jean that. I get that she’s the main character, but the constant repetition of the name pulled me out of the flow. It just became annoying.

The story moves fast. Like, an overview of scenes from the novel. Every two pages felt like a new scene, and the transitions were often abrupt. I'd be in the middle of a moment, and then — cut — we're somewhere else. Twice I went back to check if I'd missed something. The ending especially felt sudden. I wasn't emotionally prepared for it to just stop.

Also, the character introductions could've been made better and clearer. Aside from the main crew, I kept losing track of who people were. If I hadn't seen the movie before, I think I'd have been lost.

Speaking of the movie — I know that's cheating a bit, but I couldn't help comparing. The film just has more. More chemistry between Lara Jean and Peter, more depth, more spark. In the graphic novel, Peter Kavinsky came across as… not great. He whines, he's selfish, and I struggled to see what made him charming. Same for Josh, he clearly wasn't as interested and I think that's how the character were supposed to be so it didn't affect the review. You know the love triangle isn't working — when you kind of want her to end up with neither.

There were also small things that bothered me. The swim meet scene felt off — like the artist thought competitive swimming is just kicking? That rubbed me the wrong way.

Still, I’ll admit the artwork is charming and I genuinely wanted to crawl into the pages and eat whatever she was baking. It’s a quick, fluffy read. But for me, the constant “Lara Jean” repetition and the lack of scene-finishing made it a 3‑star experience. I’d recommend it only to fans who want to collect every version of the story. Everyone else can probably stick with the movie or the original novel.
