I really appreciated that Virginia is not nice at first and follows the other mean girls in order to fit in. It's very real! (And Grayson is an awesome character.)

This is a great graphic novel. Perfect for MG readers of Raina Telgemeier, Jerry Craft, etc. Just very heartfelt and interesting.

Love the Jewish representation and the sweet (meddling but not too much) parents and seeing two Jewish characters fall in love during the Xmas season. Also liked the classic "pretend girlfriend" setup, but I found this one a bit lacking in momentum.

I was surprised how much I didn't enjoy this book -- I am familiar with this writer and think she's great (I've read her short pieces but not novels). I found this one frustrating. Maybe the main character's constant comments about how much she loves her adult children and how obsessed with them she is just got to be ... a lot. I still think Newman is super talented, this one just wasn't for me.

Truly amazing and moving and often funny and sweet and not corny. It's middle grade but as others have said, it's a wonderful read for any age.
