I've only read fantasy from this author before but I am loving this book! It's cute, cozy, and the atmosphere is great!

Cute and funny so far! The dogs are definitely the best characters though!

I really liked the first book in this series, and this one was just as good, though in different ways.

The plot and pacing is much slower and generally not as engaging as the first book, but the atmosphere, settings, and direction of the story were intriguing and eerie in a great way. And if anything, the slow pace kind of helped with the feeling of dread throughout.

I also liked how the different relationships were growing, changing, or developing in different ways, and I am very curious to see how they will continue in the final book.

The stakes were also higher, and the magic system keeps being one of the highlights of the series! I just love learning more about it!

Overall, great sequel, even if it did feel a bit different than first. I am definitely excited to read the next book!

Edward Underhill hasn't written anything disappointing yet, and while this was not my favourite book of the author, it was still pretty great!

The premise is a bit cliché and the pacing is fast which is understandable, but it was still entertaining and engaging. The characters were excellent, and while messy and flawed, felt pretty realistic and I enjoyed getting to know them.

I really loved all the different relationships and friendships in the book, and everything generally felt well-written and fleshed out. The setting was also a lot of fun and atmospheric.

Overall, pretty great! Not the most original book i have ever read, but it didn't need to be. it was just a fun and nice read!
