There's a man that I assume is called Piotr, or something. But the narrator is saying pee-ott-ahh. Like a posh person saying Potter, but with a polish swing.

I was both excited and apprehensive about this book. After reading the Sword of Kaigen, while I didn't love it as much as a lot of people, the brilliant moments were SO good I was really excited to see where this author went next and immediately bought the book, then waited months to actually read it. I really liked the setup and the premise, but found the execution, particularly in the first half, to be a bit lacking. @perpetualpages on YouTube put it well when they said that it gave too much page time to white women's tears and I think that's really the root of my issues with the presentation of the story. It felt a bit like a caricature of how white women might hopefully respond to something like this, or how people would hope they would respond? The adjustment and investigation in the first half felt clunky and rote, so that when things really picked up at the end and Wang was in her element writing prosy, biting commentary on race and gender expectations I was tired and, though I love how she wrote the last handful of chapters, it wasn't enough to save the read for me. I still liked it, but was really hopeful for something a bit stronger.
