An incredible end to this series, it was a journey as history and mythology seamlessly became woven together.

This book was the most emotionally intense and gripping, especially reading Gormflaiths POV. She gave me so much stress as she progressed into becoming a true villain. It started to really sink in that she was only getting worse. Her delusional mindset was so unhinged and brilliant I really couldn’t help but be so intrigued by her despite the horrible things she’s done. She was insane. Like what the hell, girl?!

Fódla’s character was everything I could’ve hoped for! She was the heart of this series. She was brave, resilient, and so kind. I loved her character development. And I loved her and Murchad’s slow-burn relationship, it was everything!

I loved the heavy political scheming, the betrayals (omg!! Donnchad??). I enjoyed the slow pace of the worldbuilding throughout the books, and though I know nothing about Irish history I think this was a good introduction to it. I really liked the authors notes in the ends about the historical aspects!

I can’t wait to start the next series in this world!!!

This book exceeded beyond my expectations. I love the slow paced world-building. It’s like we’re getting towards the end really slowly, and the focus shifting more intensely on the characters. Gormflaith is so incredibly intense, her chapters were so hard to read through (and I was rooting for her in book one). And the romance between Murchad and Fódla…I loved it so much

I picked this book up blindly without ever reading the premise but this is a historical fantasy about Irish history and mythology, and I was surprised by how much I loved it. The book was so well-written and immersive! I felt like I was right alongside Fódla and Gormflaith.

The slow world-building is amazing and intricate and so detailed. The political aspects, the struggles women faced and the POVs of the two women being at the center of it all, was heartbreaking and so intriguing.

Fódla and Gormflaith are really incredibly well-written and strong women, and so different from each other. I loved Gormflaiths morally grey character and I really can’t see her as a villain. Fódla I adored. Both of these women did everything for their loved ones. I honestly can’t wait to see how their characters develops in the next books.

The only thing I had an issue with was the amount of “er…um…I….ah…uh,” and this dialogue didn’t just extend to the main characters, but all characters - even the unimportant ones. It kinda snapped me out of the book.

But, I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, fun, refreshing and cute, I loved Stephen and Grace! I liked the writing and the slow developed world-building with a grim mystery and a cozy romance. I can’t wait to see how it all unravels!

Istvhan was my favorite character, he’s hilarious and I think he has a book? I’m very excited to read his!
