I really want to go to a bookclub, and my local bookstore has a ton of different genre bookclubs, but I've never been to one and have no idea what they're like. If anyone is part of a bookclub or has a bookclub, can you give me pointers? Tell me what it's like, what are the type of convos? Also, can people usually just join in or are people not super welcoming of newcomers? I also am hesitant because what if I don't like the book, or DNF it, or don't finish it in a month (because sometimes life happens), do you still show up? I wanted to show up to this Horror bookclub, but Horror is not something I always read. Just a few here and there, but I do enjoy them! I saw that they were reading Maeve Fly and I was already reading it so I thought it was a perfect one to go to. However, when I finished the book I had some pretty negative opinions about it and I felt like if I showed up to my first book club and complained to a bunch of horror fans, I was gonna seem like an annoying asshole/poser lol I'm also more of a "casual" reader in the way that I don't have a very specific rating system, don't annotate, and don't over analyze (like plot holes and such). Like just here for the vibes lol. I picture bookclub convos like how some of these booktok/bookstagram people talk about books and go in depth to the themes and the prose and such. I hear such mixed reviews about bookclubs in general, so I wanted to know if any of you guys had experiences with it. good or bad!

What's your thoughts on Hoopla vs Libby? My library has both. Both have their pros and cons. Personally, I love (and use) Hoopla wayyyy more than Libby. But I know plenty of other people who prefer Libby to Hoopla.

Just as the title says. I personally feel that I am a slow reader (my speed itself is fine) due to distractions (partly my brain's fault) and life just life-ing. On average, I feel it takes me close to 2 weeks to finish a good book. 3 weeks if I'm not that into it, but still determined to finish. If I buckle down and put the world on hold as much as I am able, I can finish a book in a week ish. I just download a book that is 600 pages. Books in the 400-600+ page range, I start booking our wedding venue, because this book and I are in it for the long haul!

I have to say that I honestly love the emoji feature on this site. The fact that I can find books based on emojis will be helpful when I don't know what I'm after, other than something niche that emojis can help me find 𼰠I just did a test, and it's such a fun (and accurate) way to find books that I'm in the mood for. With emojis that show the feel/mood/theme(/other) I'm looking for in my next books! (Hope people won't ruin it/mess it up in the future, but let's focus on how they help currently đ )

Such a cute read! I loved the open communication between characters. And having Annie enjoy romance books? Perfect!

Personally, I really enjoy dual POV when itâs a love story, it adds so much to the yearning and tension. If the main POV is from the female side, I especially love getting those little glimpses into the male perspective. That said, when a book goes beyond two POVs, it often feels overwhelming to me. I havenât seen it done well very often, sometimes itâs characters I donât really care about, or perspectives that donât feel necessary to the story. Curious how you all feel about this - do you prefer one perspective, dual, or a whole cast of voices? Bonus points if you can share a book where the number of POVs completely ruined the reading experience.

I thought it would be kind of fun to see where in the world people are, and then folks can make friends with people from the same countries/ares (if they way, not pressure obviously). I'll go first. I'm Canadian, and more specifically I am in British Columbia (Vancouver Island if you want to get fancy). Try to find your country and join that thread! Everyone else?
