Matthew Stover brought so much more to the story than there already was. A deep dive into the mind of Mace Windu as he tries to save an already dead Republic? The overwhelming helplessness of Anakin as he gets groomed by Palps and becomes the very thing he despises? The pureness of Obi Wan and his scathing desperation when he discovers the horrible things his brother has done? Frigging Padme Amidala who doesn't recognize her own husband????? and clings to her morals, her beloved democracy and her very life??? Yes, please, give me more which is not possible because it all already happened a long time ago and there is nothing you can do to change the events unfolding.

Edit: I now finished my seventh time reading this book and I swear to god it gets better every time I open it. the deluxe edition is drop dead gorgeous and the annotations give me back my will to live. the final pages always destroy me...Vader realizing he killed Padmé, his constant pain, his suffering, his RAGE? absolut cinema, straight to the heart, bawling my eyes out, I love this book so much
