I had such high hopes and I'm sad to report that this was a bit of a slog for me to get through. I think this author is very talented, and I enjoyed much about this novel, but I think it could have benefitted from perhaps another round of revision? I couldn't get down with the structure and felt that it was a little too long. Some plot points don't feel totally necessary and I found myself getting annoyed. I'll look forward to more from this author for sure, but this novel just wasn't for me.

Ling Ling Huang is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed Natural Beauty, and I loved this one even more. I admire the "quiet" feel of the writing, and yet she's able to grip you with these complex characters and twisted plots that just won't let you go. There's nothing flowery or flashy about her writing, which makes her character work and world building even more impressive.

The Seventh Champion is a very solid romantasy and I can't wait for the next one! A lot of the writing and plot felt fresh in a way that I've been craving.

What an interesting read! I enjoyed this novel way more than I thought I would--I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan, but luckily this one is very light on the sci-fi elements (apart from the main character being a robot?). Would highly recommend!

This girl is so idiotic I stg. I have to imagine this book would only be like 300 pages if she knew how to shut up and think critically.
