  • What book made you go "good for her"?

Although this quest leans more literary, I'd love to get a rec thread going of books from all genres that center unhinged women. Pop in your nominations that should be included in the quest also!

Debating the gayness of LotR characters truly is a universally queer pass time.

  • Ace: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex
    Thoughts from 30% (page 56)

This may seem like an odd thing to liken to, but I often feel sexually pressured in this way when I watch the video for Troye Sivan’s “Rush.” The setting of that video (and, really, the setting of most of the song) is queer community, which—from a cinematographic lens—is inextricable from sex: queer, casual, kinky, transgressive, and a whole lot of it.

I don’t have any moral quibbles with any of that, to be clear—anyone can do whatever they want—but it’s a bit alienating to watch/listen to something like that and have it insinuated that the only way (or, at least, the primary way) to engage in queer community as a young person is to go to all of these parties where people do drugs and drink and casually suck each other off and make out because that’s what you do when you’re young and queer and liberated and you want to be with other young, queer, and liberated people. And if you don’t, you’re a prude or a sellout or repressed in some way, even if nobody says any of it out loud.

It’s hard not to feel that way, even surrounded by people who are in the same position for less voluntary reasons (e.g., inability to afford it, being too busy to make time for it, lacking proximity to those spaces, etc.)

  • *insert a mish mash of game themes that all don't fit*

Hey guys, gals, non binary pals ✨️✨️ Introduction and question post! We're The Hummingbirds! Our partner system made a post a day or two ago and it kinda inspired us to make a long overdue introduction post... since we've already been posting for quite a while 💀.

🥁 Now for some cool random facts 🥁

We are in our mid-20s with a crisis about everything about ourselves which who doesn't/j. A giant nerd (anime, manga, games, reading, fanfic (barely much now but used to reaaaaally be into it), animation, fun movies, cool tv shows etc.) We're also queer as hell ✨️ and also pretty disabled we love finding books about disability so much!

Finding pagebound has been a nice way for us to record our thoughts about books because.... AH WE SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THIS EARLIER.... 💀 We have Dissociative Identity Disorder! And though various people have different experiences and varying amnesia... We're just parts trying to make a one person in a trench coat ( 😔 we're hoping it's working/j)!

We ... forget alot of what we read which can be both really upsetting for us actually also kind of hard to.. say to an audience... forgetting things we liked, especially when we didn't know that we had this disorder, would make us feel.... bad and confused, but... Hey! at least we can reread the thing we liked for the first time!! Which is a plus-point? Sooo, seeing our commentary about things is a really fun memory and interacting with others makes it more special in that way!!

That's why when we make little review or general progress posts we have a symbol showcasing what alter has read it!! You may have seen 🐦, 🫶, 🃏 a bit often!! And you might even see some more!

It's a system (ey) that helps us keep track about whose writing it so if someone else is fronting and checks our read books? They can see who might have read this book at that time!!! Books have kept us going through so many things in our lives! Every piece even if we do forget them was always special and will continue to be so!!

We struggle to stick to one genre just as much as Iri.. (our partner system we live with!!)

Also really sorry about the way this post is written? We were really nervous about writing this post and... well, posting it!! So we're really thankful for anyone whose read along this far!!!! So let's end this post with a bit of questions 🎊🎊

    1. What's your recent favourite book? We'd really like to know in the comments! Or one of your last or first fun book reads! (We might reread A wizards guide to defensive baking eyy)

    2. We're south asian!! (Pakistani) we would love to get book recs from other Desis! Especially south asian queer books (We Love Adiba Jaigirdar's book Hani and Ishu's guide to fake dating. She's a queer Bangladeshi-Irish author!! All of her books are... on our Tbr so highly recommend checking her out!!)

    3. Hehehee you thought this would be a question it's recs from us! Yaaaay! 🎉🎉 One of the most cute little comfy reads we had was a shoujo manga that JUST aired it's first anime episode! It's called "Tamon's B-side"! If your a fan of cute romances, geekiness and overall softness definitely check it out!!

For books!! "The Eyes of Gaza" because collective liberation for all and Plestia put her soul into that book and we loved it!!

Aaand this book wasn't this year and we will admit we've forgotten alot but N.K Jemisin's Broken earth trilogy 🤌🤌 just really really amazing

    1. Would anyone, because we actually want to focus on really important issues and read more books to educate ourselves; have any book recs focused on collective liberation, marginalised voices in general!! Aka: anti-racism, abolitionism, mad liberation, etc. like books would be really appreciated, it's something we really want to do this year!! (One we want to read and will rec is White tears, Brown Scars!)

*Pokemon music* You encountered a wild Iri!

Heyo everyone 🎉! Introduction post incoming!! We're Iri! First fact to know about us? We're a DID system, and if you don't know what DID is? It's short for Dissociative Identity Disorder! (We were professionally recognized but not medically diagnosed due to our country and the stigma). Some of you might know it better as the "old" name though: Multiple Personality Disorder.

    • Key note: It's not actually 'multiple personalities in one body', or what some assume it's like, if your exposure is pop media like Split or Sybil!

Other facts about us: We're in our mid-20s, highly queer, multidisabled, live with our partner system (if you have a whole DID system consider themselves your collective partner in life in some way, that would be a partner system, if anyone is curious), have two derpy pets, and have a BA in Psychology! Not what we're working in though, because in Balkan countries the pay is...not the best...ha.

We love games, ala - Stardew; Fields of Mistria; Rune Factory 4 (recently started); Pokemon; Celeste; Hollow Knight; Elder Scrolls games; Fallout games; Otome games (since them old voltage days); etc! And ttrpgs! DnD, CoC, etc! We're also getting into animation! Knights of Guinevere greenlight when?!

🚂 Moooving swiftly on to the GOOD part! The booooks! 🚂

We're somewhat long-time "readers" at this point! We started, intentionally, reading in 2019! We've slowed down a lot since then, having averaged from 60-120ish books most years, but falling off since 2024....and even more this year....ha...real life is hard, right?

We don't have a collective favorite genre, but most of us tend to gravitate towards fantasy! We're total mood readers (hard not to be), and cannot stick to a plan to save our collective lives! One second - Fluffy romance! Next second - Bone-chilling horror! Third second? Wait, which page were we at in this book again-

    So, again, chaos!

We liked Pagebound and have been testing it for a little bit now, since a certain little bird (you know who you are) found it! We LOVE it! Especially the anonymity and book forum style! Without the pressure!! 😍

So, yeah! We'll be here, "- emoji" under a post signifying an alter/"personality", so the 🎭 one for example? Is always the same alter, using the same emoji! And we HOPE we get to make friends in a non-pressure, fun, authentic way!

Also? If you got so far? You get a 🍫. !!! Also! What's the first book you're planning on starting this year?? !!!

And, most importantly, collective liberation for all!! Free 🇵🇸🇨🇩🇸🇩!!!
