I read Strange Pictures very quickly; it was such an engaging and fast-paced read! This was my first time reading a book by Uketsu, and I have to say, I was immediately intrigued by the cover and the overall concept. The artwork and the title really caught my attention, especially since I’ve read a similar type of thriller before, where pictures and drawings are part of the storytelling. I think that visual element adds a whole new layer to the experience; it makes the story feel more immersive and suspenseful.
What I enjoyed most about Strange Pictures was how all the stories connected into one larger narrative. That structure kept me hooked from beginning to end. The drawings were definitely creepy; there were a few moments that genuinely gave me chills, but that’s part of what made it such a great read, especially around Halloween time.
Overall, this was a really entertaining and memorable book. It’s made me want to explore more of Uketsu’s work, especially Strange Houses, which I plan to read next. If you enjoy thrillers with eerie artwork and interconnected stories that pull you in, Strange Pictures is definitely worth picking up.

Katherine Center’s The Rom-Commers is a heartwarming and witty rom-com that blends laugh-out-loud moments with genuine emotional depth. One of the strongest elements of this story is the subplot involving Emma’s dad, which was developed with great care and added a touching, heartfelt dimension. The way Center wove in Emma’s grief over her mother’s death made the narrative even more powerful; it gave Emma’s motivations extra weight and made her journey of love, family, and healing feel authentic and profoundly moving.
The romance and banter were truly top tier: sharp, playful, and full of chemistry. The witty dialogue between Emma and her love interest sparkled and kept me rooting for them from the start. And the ending was perfect: satisfying, heartfelt, and the kind of conclusion that leaves you smiling long after you’ve finished the book.
