This was interesting and kept me hooked throughout the book. The fantasy adventure story was interesting, especially with the fae mysteries and traps. I could have either gone without the Love Story or it should have been a slow burn; the way it was done was just way too fast-paced. It was cute, but I didn't really care. Luckily, it was more of a subplot, so it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. The topic of colonization and what it does to people should be in more books; it's a topic we don't really talk about anymore, even though we should. Seeing how Yaseema and Kiyan lived through it and their worlds, while so different still experiencing similar things, was very touching.

I'll definitely continue with the next one.

I saw the cover and description and was instantly hooked. "When it comes to boys and bears, always choose the bear."

The book follows three different Meg(h)ans, who are dealing with different things, but all of them have one thing in common: they have all been wronged by Kevin Johnson in some way.

The book instantly hooked me and kept that fast pace throughout the entire book. The dark humor, sapphic subplot, and female rage mixed with the more meaningful stories of the different Meg(h)ans made for a great read.

I did struggle a bit with Megan; she clearly grew up with parents who put very misogynistic thoughts in her head, and that sometimes causes her to lash out at other girls and excuse bad male behaviour. But I also think this is important to show, because that's the lived reality most of us see happening in real life. I just wished Outlaw, for example, would have called her out a bit more on this.

But the friendship that grew among these three, and showing how they struggled with what happened as the consequence of their actions, made this book more meaningful. The feminine rage was very satisfying, and these boys got what was coming to them.
