"The Halifax Hellions” is a collection of two charming historical romance novellas, following Matilda and Margo Halifax, vibrant and unconventional heroines.
The central conflict in the first novella ignites when Matilda inexplicably elopes with the dangerous Marquess of Ashford, prompting her sister, Margo, to take action. Margo recruits the help of her childhood friend, the starchy solicitor Henry Mortimer, for a frantic dash to Scotland. Margo and Henry’s romance unfolds during their eventful carriage journey, which is filled with humorous detours and unexpected revelations.
Matilda’s and Christian’s novella unfolds more slowly, allowing for deeper character development, and the side characters and location feel more fully fleshed out. I especially enjoyed this novella and the epilogue that wrapped the two stories up.
"The Halifax Hellions" is a fresh, fun take on the traditional Regency romance.

The writing felt really stilted to me, enough that I couldn’t continue reading this one.

For those who enjoy dual-timeline second-chance romances featuring former high-school-sweethearts, this book has much to offer. It follows Aubrey, who returns to her small hometown after spending 17 years in New York City, and Nick, who never left their hometown. The author's prose is a definite strong point, and the use of love letters adds an extra layer of charm. While the journey of Nick and Aubrey is engaging, the plot echoes many popular second-chance romances, and the predictable reveals might diminish some of the story's emotional impact.
