I rarely post reviews but I must express my grievances. This book was such a massive waste of time. It was so excruciatingly boring for me. I did not connect with or care for any of the characters. The writing lacked credibility, and the story just dragged on and on. I also did not enjoy or support the central message the story seemed to perpetuate. A Little Life did not evoke any strong emotions in me the way it did for so many others, I did not shed a single tear reading this. In fact, this book was so tedious it literally caused a half year long reading slump because I did not want to DNF a book but trying to finish A Little Life was like torture. The only redeeming quality is the prose, it is admittedly beautiful. But even then, there are so many unnecessary run on sentences?? Anyways, maybe I am missing something?? Most people seem to love this book and it has received overwhelming praise… I almost wonder if my opinion makes me heartless. TLDR: This humongous tome was a humongous snooze fest.
