Overall it was a decent read, but I’d recommend saving yourself the time and watching Rear Window instead. (Not the same plot but a far better concept with incredible dialogue and characters.)
My love for Hitchcock films carried me through some of the more monotonous chapters. Several of the main plot twists were predictable and it kind of killed the fun of the reveals. I just saw a review that mentioned some of the major flaws with the way that certain professions were played out and I’m looking back on how frustrating that was as a reader. It made some of the scenes totally fall flat. There are also a few moments that felt unnecessary and only added to the page count instead of the plot.

This book felt like it had a great concept but that the story just flopped for me. Some of the characters went through dramatic changes on a dime without explanation and the main character was too static for the plot.

This format was a creative way to look back at her campaign. Overall I don’t love giving memoirs a rating because it’s lived personal experience, but I’ll admit I felt like the book was a little more surface level than I was hoping for. It felt like she was torn between sharing her actual feelings about the events as they took place and her desire to keep it all together for a future presidential run. Unfortunately that made this generally not an interesting read for me personally. It sounds like the audiobook was the way to go with this one. I chose to read the book and I feel like I missed out on the personal connection so many other readers are mentioning in their reviews.
