So, I've read/heard a few times that not everyone can see the scenes playing out in their heads while they read books and that it does not, in fact, seem like watching a movie being created reel by reel. I personally cannot read books without forming at least a vague outline of what the characters and the world look like. Honestly, I think majority of readers have some form of imaginary theatre going on while they read a book which makes me think that what I read/heard is untrue. But what better place to gain enlightenment than this wonderful guild of tree preservers? :D

A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.

When I was growing up I was always the weird kid who liked Arby's, happy to see it represented! Though, these days I prefer Culver's if I were to choose a fast food.

Do you have a personal criteria in DNFing a book? I try to get through 25% of a book or 3-5 chapters, whichever comes first, before I decide, "okay this one's not it for me". But I let myself sit in the feeling for about a week or two before I officially call it quits and maybe return the library book early. I also dont usually consider myself reading the book on a book tracker until I feel like I'm considerably hooked in it so sometimes I consider them unread rather than DNF.

The first that comes to mind for me is The Fragile Threads of Power. I don't know if it's because you have to read darker shades trilogy first or what but this book/ world is a masterclass.

AI is destroying every place for readers and writers, this is really upsetting to see.Apps like Goodreads uses AI,which isn't cool.AI shouldn't be in the book space! That's the reason l love Page bound,it's AI-free and everyone here are kind and helpful! This is a safe place for readers and writers. Also l found out that Google Docs are using our stories to train AI,this shouldn't be allowed.Writers spent hours to create those stories and give them life.AI can't and shouldn't take the creativity of the writers. That's also why l had to delete all my hard work(dw l have them in my notes app,at least for now)I used to use Google Docs to write but now l don't use it anymore.I don't want my stories to be used to train AI.ïŒïžżïŒ ->Does anyone know any apps like Google Docs but its AI-free?đ

Saw this series highly recommended by bookish creators I follow, and finally decided to give it a shot after picking up a discounted box set at a book fair near me. Excited to dive into a new world đ€© anything I should know before starting?

Love StoryGraph to the moon and back but I've seen this site on TikTok, saw my mutual Bri (@bribwriter) talking about Pagebound so I had to see what was going. I do love the layout it is adorable! Hopefully more of the indie books I read will be readily available. Mainly I'm on StoryGraph but also here to hang until an app comes along.âš

i was wondering if anyone else has authors they're too scared to read, for whatever reason. for me it's brandon sanderson and robin hobb, probably because the length of their works and how grim dark they are. (i think! but pls try to convince me otherwise). but i did read asoiaf and i got the courage to start the blade itself and it's incrediblee update: i saw INCREDIBLE fanart on twitter of robin hobb and started assassin's apprentice and omg her writing is beautiful

Whether it's sci-fi or fantasy, you like a big series. You love when a book says 1 of 5/10/50+. Is the reading order of the series hotly debated? Is there a wiki chart to show how the books connect? Even better. Come spend some time in these worlds.

That was unusually wholesome moment and I wasn't expecting that from Jinx. I appreciate a father who is willing to admit he was wrong. We've all been there, reacted emotionally to a situation before thinking it through. I appreciate him taking that time to have that follow up conversation and actually consider beyond his own scope of thinking.

What is one micro trope you hate to read? I'm not talking about the big ones like ennemies-to-lovers, found family, etc but the small ones that add details in the story and build up to the climax of the book
