It took me a little while to really get into Kiss Thief, but once the story grabbed me, I couldn’t put it down. That’s what I love about L. J. Shen’s books: they’re usually exactly what I need—cheesy romance, drama, a touch of toxicity, and plenty of addictive tension.

The character dynamics were so much fun to follow, and I especially enjoyed the sharp, quirky dialogues that gave the story its unique edge. Sure, some parts were a bit over the top or unrealistic, but honestly, that’s part of the charm here. It’s not meant to be too deep, but rather entertaining, dramatic, and swoony—and it definitely delivered.

Overall, a really cool story that had me hooked once I found my way into it. Not groundbreaking, but exactly the kind of addictive, slightly messy romance I enjoy.

Meet Me at the Lake was a sweet second-chance romance that felt like the perfect in-between read. I’ll admit, it took me a little while to get into it—the writing style and the narrative perspective weren’t the easiest for me at first, and I needed some time to adjust. Once I did, though, I found myself enjoying the story more.

What really stood out for me were the vivid descriptions of the resort and the work atmosphere there—it created such a warm, summery vibe that I loved sinking into. The love story itself was sweet and heartwarming, even if it wasn’t the most surprising or unique romance I’ve read.

Overall, this book had a cozy, feel-good atmosphere that made it enjoyable despite the slower start. A charming, summery romance that left me with a smile, even if it won’t stick with me forever.

Like with most of L. J. Shen’s books, it took me a little while to get into Thorne Princess, but once I did, it was so worth it. Her stories are always dramatic, addictive, and just hit the exact vibe I’m craving.

I didn’t always love the FMC—sometimes she came across as a bit annoying or silly—and the MMC definitely had his toxic, borderline moments too. But honestly, that messy dynamic made it even more entertaining. Hallie turned out to be a pretty cool character at the core, and the plot itself was gripping from start to finish.

What stood out most to me: there were elements in this book I’ve genuinely never seen before, which made the whole experience feel fresh and unique.

Holly Jackson’s writing style is, as always, very enjoyable—easy to follow and engaging. I really liked the main character Jet at first; she’s sarcastic, mean in a funny way, sharp, and biting, which made her fun to read. The core idea of the story was quite cool, but the execution often felt unrealistic to me. Unfortunately, the ending left me completely unsatisfied. While the book was undeniably suspenseful, I never felt as emotionally invested as I have with Jackson’s other works. I had hoped for more depth and emotion, but in the end, Jet didn’t grow on me as much as I expected. The beginning was also a bit overwhelming with so many characters and names, which made it hard to get into the story. Still, the typical Holly Jackson pull was there—you want to keep reading, even if certain parts are frustrating. Overall, it was a decent thriller, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I’d rate it around 3 stars.

  • Can’t Resist Second-Hand Bookshop Treasures!

Hey, all you fabulous page-turners! ✨ I had a bit of a moment just now, wandering through a charming little second-hand bookshop. Even though I only read ebooks/audiobooks nowadays, there’s something special about flipping through those well-loved physical books. The little notes in the margins, a dog-eared page, or even a cute bookmark left behind… I feel it’s like stumbling on a tiny piece of someone’s story, and I love imagining what is behind it.😊

Do you ever browse used bookshops just to soak in those traces of past readers? Is it just me? 😬
