I decided to elaborate more on why it didn’t click with me. I loved the premise, and the concepts of tabula rasa and enculturation were explored in an interesting way, but it mostly fell flat to me and there wasn’t much development. Some of the characterization didn’t make sense, like how the narrator was the smartest despite being raised knowing little to nothing and that she was able to perfectly tell time through her heartbeat, even when she was asleep. I grew annoyed with how a lot of their existence was deemed meaningless due to not being able to have sex/reproduce with men as well as the narrator believing her cancer was solely caused due to having no periods or men in her life. All definition of womanhood was connected in relation to men. I liked the concept but not the execution and I didn’t quite get the hype of the story like I thought I would.
