So, the first 80 or so pages were kinda slow and boring but I can tell that I am at risk of staying up all night reading now!!

The first MB novella was good, this was GREAT. MB makes a friend, is independently employed, goes on an investigation and learns some things about itself. Love love love

"Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."
Reading this in 2025 is really something else. If only we could have AI do our chores and labour so we could be free to create art and enjoy nature and each others company. But capitalists would rather squeeze as much productivity out of us as possible before setting us free to be humans.

How fatness is portrayed in the media has been on my mind a lot lately, and the way Vladimir Harkonnen's fatness is described in Dune is interesting in the worst way. It's easy to think "oh it's a sign of it's time" but honestly fatness is still portrayed to be a sign of moral failing in media today, which generally colours our views of fat people as morally inferior.

🎧 Discworld at its silliest, just a nice entertaining book. Doesn't have many emotional or political deep cuts like many of the other books do, this one is mainly just fun, like the wizard books tend to be. I listened to the old audiobook narrated by Nigel Planer, out of nostalgia, and it's just as good as I remember. Maybe one day I'll get to the new editions.

Aaaah I can't get over how good this book is!!! There's SO MANY HINTS to the events in Endymion and I am so excited to re-read that one too. If you love the Hyperion series I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend re-reading, you see all the connections soooo much clearer then.
