Have y'all seen the recent news about "What Dan Read"? A man name Dan Pelzer recently died and his family had his 3599 (!!!) book long reading list digitized. They created a website https://what-dan-read.com/ so you could see his handwritten log and his local library (where he got most of his books) has made a spreadsheet so you could follow along too. https://www.columbuslibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/What-Dan-Read-Booklist.pdf I am bad about non-fiction books so I will be using Dan's list for future inspiration.

I had never read this before and I don't know about y'all but I didn't expect a 100 year old book to shock me in the end as much as this one did. I can only imagine how readers in 1925 felt when they finished the novel. I wanted to scream at my friends so I can just picture them doing the same. I also think it is fun to remember that this was first published as a 54 part serialization in London Evening News. So if one of your friends got the paper before you or you forgot to pick it up on the way home you just had to wait for the very last part!

Given the nature of this book, it can be very hard to read. One minute everything is calm and then suddenly it's gone crazy. I know that it is considered required for some schools and colleges and I personally think it is a book that everyone (at least most Americans) should read this book at least once. It is very honest and bare about the horrors of war and who carries the burden in the end.
