Post from the The Princess Diaries (The Princess Diaries, #1) forum
Okay, so I’m re-reading the Princess Diaries, cause… why not? And I’m just realising now, how these books have impacted my life! Over a decade after I read them for the first time. Mia, her mom, her grandma, they’ve all implanted some standards in my brain that I still follow to this day. And my resemblance with Mia is uncanny (barely exaggerating). I already related to her a lot because we’re both tall girls with frizzy hair, bad at math, etc But now, at 26, I’m long time vegetarian, I aspire to be like her mum (a free spirit, an artist), I wanna fall in love with a Michael Moscovitz, I’m not scared of therapy, I WRITE because I was inspired by the novel Mia wrote, and moreee I think my point is, be careful what you feed the youngest generations with, because these books/film/series, have such a strong influence on who we become.

I see a lot of people disliking this book that I loooved, and I wanna bring my perspective to the mix. I’m a huge fan of Uzma’s work and I was really exited to read a culturally diverse, winter holiday book! I devoured it in the winter time and that cozy feeling was everything. Her latest book (Yours for the Season) is very similar in terms of winter and Hallmark vibes. I don’t think it’s poorly written. On the contrary. You just have to read it for what it is I think, a Christmas movie in the shape of a book.

I love this book so much! Everything’s just so bizarre, and weirdly inspiring
