I'm constantly chasing witchy-highs and this book hit! The time-split and alternating chapters from Elizabeth and Melissa's POV were executed well. I was a bit confused by the change in name of the village. I had to re-read to make sure I didn't miss something. I like learning how the magic actually works in magical worlds, and this book didn't go into much detail, but it still nailed the witchy-vibes. Sally-Anne Martyn did an amazing job making her characters easy to hate. Melissa's parents had me wishing I could kick them out and I think Ethan's presence was solely to piss me off. I think the ending was pretty abrupt. There was so much build up, for it to be over within seconds.

This book kept me turning the pages well into the night. It took me most of the book to figure things out and work out how Melissa fit into the story. It was just the right amount of creepy, culty, and historical.
