People here gotta look for the corrections on translation on reddit, because this volume had lots of things twisted but specially on the epilogue. The whole scene changes with just a few words. If you are reading in English as I did, I highly recommend go do your research 🙏.

I always forget how brutal is the world of "Apothecary diaries". Then I read the LN.

This volume let me down a bit. Besides Jinshi, I needed everyone to stop treating MaoMao like she wasn't worthy. Basen, especially.
The relationship between Jinshi and MaoMao is a big reason for my love of this series. and while we did get a few moments between them, it wasn't enough. Also, we might have a new love interest in Rikuson. Time will tell on that one.
This volume very much was on the political and mystery side. And I'm hoping we get a bit more of the vibe back from the previous volumes in the next one.

hey quick question, what the hell was this ending
i'm still gonna keep reading but like. wtf. give a girl some warning at least. the rest of it was so good why'd you have to do me like that
edit: ok i'm bumping this back up to a three after having a wander through the subreddit and confirming my suspicions that a lot of my problems with the epilogue had to do with the translation. i'm really hoping that a lot of my issues with this scene are remedied with that adaptation magic i was talking about the anime having (pretty please)

I'm so annoyed right now, I need to rant (with a question at the end). I know we already had the discussion about books being written by/ with AI here, thanks to SamsSapphicReads (go read what the smart people have said there). And I'm sure we can all agree AI = bad, but I need to bring it up again.
So I am looking through new releases and I find a pretty interesting book. I add it here, put it in my plan, and then I look at the cover again and think, is this AI? I'm already screaming internally. Then I search for hints and find a few. I'm pretty sure that it's AI now. I'm disappointed because I don't want to read the book if that's the case. So I look through the author's profile and Instagram and don't find a shout-out to an artist anywhere, but I find other character art that looks like AI... At least the author is real and it's just the cover, but still. I can even understand indie authors that don't want to spend so much money to publish, but seriously? You wouldn't be ok with the people stealing your work for AI, why would you use it?
Now I've wasted like 15 minutes just to make sure I don't support authors that use AI. I am angry!! Why does it have to be like this 😭😭
My question: What do I do now? I've already added the book here. Do I go into the forum and point out that the cover is probably AI even though I'm pretty sure the book isn't? I've also recently written in a forum that I suspect a different book to be AI when I found a lot of things that didn't add up, but I don't have proof, and I'm still thinking about deleting it, because I can't be sure and I don't want to be wrong about something that could potentially be harmful to the author...??

I started this one long ago, bit before the series. And it was a difficult reading, but only for personal matters around my life. Basically I couldn't deal with any more stress, and I couldn't help but to feel sorry for all the characters and the impending danger always at their doorstep. I dropped it back then. Just recently started it back and I can say that this time it feels sooo different, poor old me. What a time it was 😂💕

“…not handsome enough to tempt me.”
I could never let that go!
We could be married many years later and I’d say something like “What good fortune, that by some miracle I finally became handsome enough to tempt you!” or some such early-English sounding phrase.
It’s not easy to be a hopeless romantic and petty, but such is my cross to bear.
