It is an apparently simple story, beautifully written and filled with intelligent humor. I really enjoyed the read and found the count of Rostov absolutely endearing. Even though the book’s main focus isn’t the historical events and it doesn’t dwell on them too much, you can get a sense of the times and the context with some subtle descriptions, which I really liked. I would recommend this book to loads of different people because I think many would enjoy it.
Wow. I couldn’t stop reading. I didn’t think that I was going to enjoy this book as much as I did but I just really enjoyed the mix of social critique with horror and fantasy.
It’s an interesting book although not my style. I think the last 50 or 60 pages were my favorite because it got more personal and emotional. I think the book helps understand the Irish conflict and goes into a lot of historical details, but it is easier to read if you already have an understanding of the country’s history.
