Post from the The Exorcist forum
It’s like if Stephen King, Agatha Christie and Shirley Jackson had a baby and named her ‘The Exorcist.’ Loving it so far!

“…we listened to the breeze which always whispered the same soft note. Apart from Rose’s powerful soprano, it was the only music I’d ever heard. “ This book is the antithesis of Lord of the Flies.

Natalialg236 commented on marissa's review of The Haunting of Hill House
The Haunting of Hill House is such a quiet, eerie kind of horror that creeps up on you and lingers. Shirley Jackson's writing is unsettling in an incredible way, and the psychological tension she builds is so well done. It’s less about jump scares and more about atmosphere, isolation, and unraveling minds, which I loved. Eleanor is such a fascinating, tragic character, and the house itself practically breathes. Definitely one of those classics that earns its reputation.

Interesting start and format. I’m intrigued that it’s such a short book, with lots of deep topics. We’ll see!
