I forgot how gory and violent the prologue is. It really sets up the tone of the book quite nicely.

I've heard that they're making a screen adaptation of these series, hence I'm rereading them so I can hate on the adaptation more accurately when they inevitably focus only on the romance plot and ditch all the yummy yummy politics, schemes and interesting characters.

What a fun read! Thank you NetGalley and Del Rey for the ARC!
This is technically a sequel but I realized it around chapter three and I can guarantee that this book 100% works as a standalone. It’s fun, it’s adventurous, it’s a little bit spicy… It has all the ingredients of an enjoyable novel.
I really liked Araphi and Sage, both as individual characters and as a pair. They are flirty and fun and romantic and lovely. I don’t want to spoil anything but they are definitely a perfect match. 👩❤️💋👩
I only have two complaints about this book. One is the pacing. It’s a very fast paced book, which is not a problem at all, but there were several instances where the story skipped forward and omitted scenes that I thought would be interesting to read. It bothered me mostly because some of those scenes were previously described as something memorable and important… and then I never got to read about it :( The second complaint is the task. It seemed too easy after how insistent the characters were about the dangers they were getting themselves into. There were challenges and obstacles, sure, but to me it felt like most of them got solved in an almost deus-ex-machina kind of way. This is a perfect book if you want something chill and cute and adventurous but not too deep and challenging. It is a great easy read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Legends and Lattes and the sequels/prequels. Homeward for a spell has a similar vibe, just more adventurous and romantic. Also: bonus points for being queer and sapphic!!! 🌈🌸

I loved the first book but I'm having trouble getting into this one. I hope it gets more interesting soon :(

I guess this trope could be called ‘trying to stay professional while incredibly horny for each other’ and so far… it is a good trope 😈

reading so many phrases from the internet hurts when this is set 10,000 years in the future of a resurrected solar system
