Why am I just finding out after I rushed to finish the first book and start the second that there is NO second book yet? I have to wait until school restarts to get my book? SEPTEMBER?!?☹️😭😭

Devoured this book in a day, T Kingfisher does it again. A lot of people don’t get why her books are cozy because of the dark themes but to me it’s because even though horrible things are happening there are still good people who will help and her books have the best found families. All of the characters are gems (the good guys range from kind and honorable to “explain to me again why murder isn’t an option”) and this is the best fantasization (?) of narcissism I have ever seen.
My only complaint is that a lot of the characters plans didn’t make sense and it felt like everything worked out a bit through luck. But it ’s a fairytale retelling and I’ve never actually read goose girl so I can’t be too strict about that.

We still know so little about these people and the absurdity of some behaviours & parts of the story only make me more intrigued! I’m not sure if it’s just a language barrier entwined with peculiar customs or if everyone is on drugs and we’re just not aware of it but I am determined to find out 😂

~ But, I suppose, there is also a part of me trying to explain how defenceless I was. For you to understand many of the things that came next, you need only understand that I wasn't someone used to being treated with care. ** I had no armour against gentleness. **
