Pride & Prejudice but Jane Bennet deserves better
My favorite Pride and Prejudice variations in which Jane Bennet falls in love and marries someone other than Mr Bingley. Because I think she deserves someone more constant in his affections.

This was an all-round meh for me.
The thought was there, but it fell just flat of being good storytelling.
Until the last possible chapter, there was no chemistry between the main characters. The descriptions of the sights and sites were flat and one page into a character introduction you could guess the twist.
I can forgive Inez naiveté because this is still victorian-ish times. But the author seems conflicted about her background and character. She is clueless about things she supposedly studied for years etc
But the most frustrating is actually that there is a great story hidden about magic and Cleopatra - but it just isnt told! Why not? This could have made the book a masterpiece.
All in all, I kept reading because Tio Ricardo captured my interest more than Whit and because this was very much a read-in-one-sitting-book.

Its a nice, non-angst romance novel in which Elizabeth steps up and basically takes on the role of an heir to Longbourn. The relationships in this story are sweet and there are no over the top or unrealistic developments - which I like exceedingly. The characters feel authentic, if a bit mild.
However, everytime there could have been a bit of tension, or the climax to a situation the scene just stops, the chapter ends or the author makes a time jump. This disrupted the pace of the story for me personally.
