Nokivaris's Book Journey

The oldest surviving Greek play! How cool is that!

It is the second part of a trilogy, so in a way seems incomplete, but a wonderful look at a greek play from the classical period. The first and last part have not survived.

The play tells of the defeat of Xerxes in Salamis by the way of his mother Atossa hearing the news back home in Susa, one of the capitals of the Persian Empire.

The play consists of likely the first dream sequence in European theatre and shows a play from the point of view of an enemy to the Greeks. It is intriguing to see the Persian Empire's ruin from a sympathetic lens.
