If you're looking for me, I might be strolling through the woods (especially on an autumn day), or with my nose in a book... or in the pottery studio, also quite likely!🍁📚🏺

  • The Once and Future Witches
    Thoughts from 23% (page 118)

I'm really enjoying the book generally, but I especially love the magic system! In so many books when there's magic, it's more or less "magic is real and it works like this". I love how here it's more complex. Just like every other aspect of humanity and culture, different people of from different backgrounds may have magic/witchcraft in common, but they have their own practices and approaches to it, even if there are similar threads running through each one. It makes it feel much closer to our own world, it's great!

  • Audiobook for a trip with my mum!

Hiya! My mum and I are going away together for a few days and we were thinking it could be fun to listen to an audiobook together! We're looking for something that's around 9 or 10 hours long, that's fun and exciting! Neither of us are into horror or too graphic murder thrillers. Also, nothing against it for my normal reading, but I don't really want to be listening to something too spicy with my mum 😅... Any recommendations? Thanks!

One chapter down and, so far, the writing style is a lot less daunting than I thought it was going to be! Just another million pages to go 😅

Such beautiful and clever writing. It's a style that maybe takes a bit of time to get into, but it's worth every page. Maggie O'Farrell created a beautiful opportunity to look closer at a group of people who are too often overlooked by historians, but who undoubtedly played a huge part in it, and in a very believable and realistic way. I know I might have already overused it here already, but it is the perfect word for this book... Beautiful (and of course, heartbreaking)
