Unfortunately, if you do that for ** and get unlucky, you will get a major plot point spoiled for you. So to save you all from my fate, I’ve created this as spoiler-free as possible list.

Jamal. A scribe asking Amina to tell her story. Voiced by Amin el Gamal Amina al-Sirafi. A famed pirate. Now retired nakhudha of the Marawati. (nakhudha (pl. nawakhidha): a ship owner, authority at sea). Voiced by Lameece Issaq

Dalila. The Mistress of Poisons, Amina’s close friend. A Christian refugee. Tinbu. Amina close friend and first mate, the nakhudha of the Marawati in her stead. Majed ibn Suleiman. Father of Maps. Amina’s close friend and a man who has been close to her family for two generations. Dunya al-Hilli. Salima’s kidnapped/runaway granddaughter. Asif’s daughter. Raksh. Amina’s fourth and final husband.

Marjana. Amina’s young daughter. Asif al-Hilli. A deceased member of the Marawati. Salima al-Hilli. A very wealthy woman who hires Amina to find her granddaughter. Falco Palamenestra. The Frankish mercenary and occultist who acts as the primary antagonist of the book. The Moon of Saba. The object being sought by the characters. Payasam. The ships cat, owned by Tinbu. He is a particularly bad mouser (aka he can't do his job)
