It's been a minute since I read a dark rom com that had me laughing throughout the entire book. I tandem read this as both an audiobook and an ebook at the same time. I would laugh at something in the audio, hit pause, and go highlight the note. Over and over again. Xander has an internal monologue that had me cackling while Oakley had zero self preservation. The serial killer and the investigative journalist.

Oakley has been trying to find a way to expose her parents murder for 12 years. As a crime journalist, she hunts down killers and writes about them. Xander catches sight of her once, stops her from entering a building another time, and then plants cameras in her home. Isn't that how every good love story begins??? 😂 Oakley starts tracking down her stalker without anywhere near enough fear. Xander breaks into her home and leaves her home cooked food. Obviouisly, this is a match made in dark rom com heaven.

If you still need a push to read this one... we have a few different moments of Who did this to you and You are mine. And Oakley's addiction to candy in a crisis is so dang relatable.

Xander is also part of the Hemlock Society; a group of six serial killers who are taking out people who evade justice. The members of this group all have special skills and interests. Whether it's medical or legal or artistic staging of blood splatter. Honestly, I am really excited about book 2 and kind of wish the entire series was complete already. I feel like Calloway's story is going to be a wild ride.
